The images below represent selected design work from introductory to advanced level students.

I have built my curriculum around the investigation of big ideas. These are the themes, issues, and topics that affect people on a daily basis.  They are concepts that anyone can understand, and things that all of us have or will experience at some point in life. Things like identity, memory, growth, and transition.  Centralizing the curriculum in this way inspires a myriad of responses, and ensures students respond to the question authentically, rather than following a prescriptive guide. Students come to understand that design is not about making things look pretty, but a method for communicating with others and understanding the world.
